Namco Bandai Games today announced that it has secured the worldwide trademark rights to the Pioneer license. This will allow the upcoming game The Fast and the Furious to showcase Pioneer's AVG-VDP1 automobile performance system. The Vehicle Dynamics Processor gives real-time vehicle performance data, including torque, horsepower, acceleration, lateral G-forces, speed and RPM, which is then displayed on a Pioneer Audio/Video monitor.

"The Fast and the Furious will be a completely immersive drift racing experience and we are thrilled to be able to include Pioneer's AVG-VDP1 System in the game in order to add to the authenticity of the game," said John Whitmore, Namco Bandai's Director of Internal/External Development. "Measuring acceleration, G-forces, horsepower, and torque, the AVG-VDP1 System is one of the most popular performance gauges used by car enthusiasts today, lending another element of realism to the cool underground drift racing world of The Fast and the Furious."

The Fast and the Furious will be available on PS2 and PSP in Summer 2006.
