Dan Vondrak, project lead on X-Men Origins: Wolverine at Raven Software, indicates to Geek.com that his team was actually working on a Wolverine game before the film production really got started. As Vondrak sees it, the game ended up influencing elements of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie, hitting theaters this weekend.

"We were writing our own scripts before the movie had a script, but then when we started getting drafts of the film script, there were influences there from our game," said Vondrak. "When we saw the trailers for the film there were certain characters – and I won't name names — that we think we're responsible for that dude getting in the game and getting in the movie. It's pretty cool to see these influences from game to film, although no one (from Fox) will admit that."

Ultimately, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game will include nearly all of the story of the movie, but the game will also have "40 percent" unique content as well. "There were bits and pieces of story lines that influenced us from different comic story lines, but we were definitely on our own when writing the script," noted Vondrak. "And then we started to see some of those influences show up in the film script. We never got an official word that our game influenced the film, but what ended up happening was the creation of this story that flows seamlessly from comic to game to film."
