Interview with WWE Superstars Carlito and Chris Masters (XB360)

Carlito and The Masterpiece speak with GameDaily, and that...that's cool!

by Chris Buffa on Monday, April 03, 2006

This past Friday, THQ held its annual WWE Superstar Challenge at Chicago's House of Blues. WWE Superstars such as Edge, John Cena, Trish Stratus, Carlito, and Chris Masters, among others, were on hand to compete in a SmackDown Vs Raw 2006 tournament, which was won by Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin. The outcome was unfortunately quite predictable because Shelton wins every year, and with that being said, most of the wrestlers weren't optimistic about their chances against him, most notably Carlito and Chris Masters, who took the time to sit down for a handicap match with GameDaily as well as some other notable members of the press.

So how does it feel to be wrestling for the tag team championships this Sunday?

[Note: Unfortunately, Carlito and Chris Masters lost to Kane and The Big Show at this year's Wrestlemania.]

Chris Masters
[Looks at Carlito] I think I'll let you take that one.

Carlito
How does it feel? It feels great. As long as Masters listens to Carlito we'll have no problem whatsoever.

Where did you guys get your start? How did you get into the business?

Carlito
I started wrestling for my father about six years ago. Ever since then I've been doing it. It was a family tradition. My father was a wrestler so I was just following in his footsteps. Masters was a big dumb idiot...

Chris Masters
Let me just take this one before you go too far. Chris Masters has actually been a wrestling fan his whole life and I started in California and wound up signing with World Wrestling Entertainment there, so let's not let this guy do the talking.

Carlito
Well, you're a big meat head, but ok.

What was the first wrestling match that you went to see?

Carlito
The first wrestling match that I went to see I can't remember since I was two or three years old.

Chris Masters
He's not even going to speak about his first wrestling match.

Carlito
Just like you can't speak at all. Wrestling has been a huge part of my life. I can't remember what the first match was.

Chris Masters
I was actually at a WWE house show in 1996. It was like, Shawn Michaels vs. Vader. It was fun.

What are the stiffest finishing moves that you guys take?

Chris Masters
That's a good question.

Carlito
It would be those damn choke slams I think. But we're not looking to do that at Wrestlemania.

Chris Masters
Chops and choke slams? No. I'm really not looking forward to that at all. I'm hoping that he [Carlito] will be on the receiving end of that and I can just watch.

Do you guys play a lot of videogames? Xbox and PS2?

Carlito
Whenever we have free time which is not a lot I play a videogame here and there, but our schedules don't leave us much time to do anything.

Chris Masters
I haven't played since middle school. I just picked up this one [SmackDown Vs Raw 2006] because I'm in it.

Carlito
He prefers to play with himself more than videogames.

Chris Masters
As a matter of fact I do.

Carlito
That's him. See, he admits it.
