Sin'dorei ("Blood Elf")

Anatomy & Physiology:

The Blood Elves don't bear striking looks - in fact, they are identical to the old elves of Quel'Thalas, save for a few marks that distinguish their remembrance and vow for retribution. All Elves look very similar to each other in build and stature, since they all descended from the same line of Night Elves. Blood Elves are pale in color, and prefer to dress in red and black attire.

History:

Once upon a time, a group of Night elves took up a diurnal cycle and distinguished themselves with a mighty Sunwell. They became the pale-skinned High Elves. When the Burning Legion attacked their home, Prince Arthas left a trail of destruction through their land, which eventually became known as the Dead Scar. The Blood Elves now wish to join their leader, Kael'thas Sunstrider at his new homeland, which he and other remaining Blood elves are forming in the Outland.

Azeroth still contains a large Blood Elf population, however, since they also want to rebuild and repopulate their original capital, Silvermoon. But many things, including the Dead Scar, sit in their way. The Blood Elves have also joined the Horde, once their mortal enemies, because they need allies to survive. The Horde is brought together primarily through mutual hatred, and as hatred grows, Thrall lets another race of bruised but powerful beings into the fold.

Habitat:

The Blood Elves have retaken their former homeland, Silvermoon and the surrounding areas. Scourge remnants still wander the pillaged lands, which the Blood Elves fight on a daily basis. Despite its near destruction, the capital still thrives, and will serve as a great hub for many adventurers.

Common Behaviors:

The Horde has gained a powerful ally. The Blood Elves are only race that doesn't require playable Warriors. This may seem like a weakness, but in actuality, Blood Elves don't need warriors because they're adept woodland hunters, powerful magi, quick rogues, dark and brooding warlocks, and keep a few functional priests in their midst. Plus, in the Blood Elves' desperation to find magical energies to quench their thirst for arcane power, some found a new way to achieve satisfaction: the naaru.

That's right, the devious Blood Elves have formed a sect under Lady Liadrin and call themselves the Blood Knights. These Blood Elves have forsaken the Alliance -- and the holy light itself -- to bind the naaru. They forced the naaru to grant its powers of creation and restoration to creatures that were not of a pure nature. Thus, Blood Knights were born. (Note: Blood Knights are also called "Paladins" on some menus, to distinguish the similarity of abilities and role.)

The Blood Elves also have the amazing ability to steal energy from other beings - using it immediately or storing it for later. And, when a Blood Elf uses this stored energy, it can also silence spell casters entirely. Only time will tell how this newfound power will affect each class and their respective abilities.
