Winx Club Review (GBA)

What's it like to become a magical fairy? Find out in Winx Club!

by Jill Keil on Tuesday, December 06, 2005

Winx Club is a surprisingly good platformer for the Game Boy Advance, and if you are familiar with the characters, or just want to play a solid title, you should give this one a look. In Winx Club, you play as a 16-year old human who learns that she is a fairy, and what ensues is a colorful game full of pretty fairy friends, witches to fight, tasks to perform, and fun to be had.

In all, the game is not too hard, with controls that are easy to learn, and moves that are easy to perform. As you move through the levels, there are signs posted around that tell you how to perform the moves necessary to advance through the board. So, for example, when you come to a cliff, there will be a sign posted that tells you how to jump or climb up to a different level. There are enemies that hop around throughout the game that you will have to fight, but shooting them is pretty easy, and recovering your health after a fight seems easy as well. The game also boasts convenient save points throughout the game so you can save your progress as you go.

Konami is marketing this game to girls, and it is chock full of things that girls would like. However, it's also a solid platformer with easy action, and therefore is highly recommended to anyone looking for a fun playing experience. Winx Club is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.
