In a recent interview, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime noted that his company will likely "fall short" when it comes to keeping up with demand for the popular Wii Fit game. Today, on the GameStop financial conference call, the retailer echoed Nintendo's comments.
"Wii Fit is in very, very short supply and sells through as soon as it hits the stores," a GameStop executive noted.
The video games retailer was slightly more optimistic on Wii hardware, thanks in part to a supply boost in October that led to 800K+ sales for Wii, but it's still going to be pretty tough for consumers to find Nintendo's console.
"The Wii hardware is in very good supply right now, but we believe it may as well be out of stock by the holiday season," the executive added. Interestingly, this seems to counter what Fils-Aime said in the abovementioned interview: "With Wii hardware, I think we've got a good shot at meeting demand during the holidays."
GameStop Chairman Dick Fontaine noted that Wii hardware is selling "extremely well" in part because of new buyers and the early gift givers for the holiday season.

spcneedle, a part of me thinks the error was intentional because had it said that Wii Fit would be in short supply I would have ignored the story. But I wanted to know what NES product would be in short supply and I clicked it. They got me...sounds like they might have got you too. :-)
