With a game like Doom 3, it's important to know your enemy before you go into battle. Take a few minutes to get acquainted with the terrifying zombies and demons that will make your mission on Mars a living Hell.

Since it's still relatively early in the game, we'll be updating this list with more details and pictures as they come to light. For now, take a look at what we do know, and check out how technology has advanced as we compare photos of the enemies as they've evolved from earlier in the Doom series.

Zombies

These undead creeps are after your brains! Zombies are dumb and slow, proving to be excellent cannon fodder for your shotgun or assault rifle. Some zombies carry a chainsaw so keep your distance!

Commando Zombies

Don't let their zombie appearance fool you. These former soldiers are fast and strong, and they show a lot more intelligence than your standard zombies. They either port a tentacle arm or a machine gun to dispatch any living thing, but they should be a lot of fun to take out!

Imps

Imp demons like to keep to the dark and will try to attack you from a distance by hurling fireballs at you. They are atletic and fast creatures and when fighting them upclose be carefull of their flesh ripping claws.

Pinky Demons

Part mechanical and part organic, a Pinky Demon will charge at its foe in a blind rage. Watch out for its claws and razor-sharp teeth. Still, you should be able to handle these guys easily... right?

Lost Souls

These freaky floating heads are looking for living souls to devour. Their strength comes from their numbers since they always hunt in packs. Sounds like fun!

Hell Knight

The star of the enemies of Doom 3, these giant creatures of Hell strike terror in even the toughest space marine. They are slow moving but incredibly strong. You're best attack option is using the rocket launcher very liberally.

Trites

If you ever watched the horror movie The Thing, you'll notice a lot of similarities between the head spiders in that movie and a trite. These pack hunters are very fast and ruthless. When they get close to you, they'll jump up and try to bite your face off (ouch). Always keep an eye out behind you and on the ceiling as these demons have the tendency to drop in out of nowhere!

Revenant

A skeleton carrying shoulder mounted rocketlauncers. It attacks from a distance with heat seeking missiles. A very dangerous and deadly demon. The missiles can be shot down but you are better of concentrating your fire on the demon itself. The Revenant can be recognized by its green glowing eyes.

Cherub

This baby-faced demon has wings and terrifyingly sharp claws. Don't let its adorable yet creepy face stop you from dispatching it back to Hell before it sends you there!

Archvile

This one has a big head and huge ugly blisters on its hideous claws. The Archvile can hurl fire at you and resurrect fallen demons and zombies. When you are engaging a group of enemies with guy in it, we suggest you deal with him first!

Cacodemon

Not much is know about this demon yet except that it's big, ugly, and floats through the air. You should probably try to kill it.
