THQ today announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War had released. Based upon the Games Workshop tabletop game, the game was developed by Relic Entertainment (makers of Homeworld and Homeworld 2). Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is rated "M" for Mature, and will retail for $49.99.
"We are extremely proud that Dawn of War marks THQ's inaugural release with the talented team at Relic," said Jack Sorensen, executive vice president of worldwide studios, THQ. "With its epic, visually stunning combat scenarios, Dawn of War delivers a whole new level of action to the RTS genre."
In Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War players will control four races, including the Blood Raven chapter of the human Space Marines, the insidious Chaos Space Marines, the barbaric, warlike horde of Orks, or the psychic and advanced Eldar. Only the Space Marines are playable in the single player campaign; the other races are playable in multiplayer.
A single-player demo is currently available for download at finer websites everywhere. More info can be found at www.dawnofwargame.com.
