The Nintendo DS launched in the U.K. last week on Friday, March 11th 2005. The handheld system sold nearly 87,000 units in its first two days. Three DS titles, Super Mario 64 DS, Wario Ware: Touched! and Rayman DS, were among the top 20 best selling entertainment software titles in the U.K for the week ending March 12, according to the ELSPA.

"Demand for Nintendo DS has been unprecedented and many of our stores sold out over the launch weekend," according to Martyn Gibbs, Gamestation Commercial Director. "Gamestation opened over 220 stores across the UK to satisfy gamers who couldn't wait to get their hands on the DS first."

The Nintendo DS is available at most retailers for £99. Most software titles retail between £19 and £29, varying from title to title.
