Sega announced today the latest in the Total War strategy franchise. Titled Medieval 2: Total War, this Creative Assembly developed title will take place over a long period of history (from the beginning of the Crusades to the early Renaissance) and will have battles set across the world (from the Middle-East to North and South America). The engine used for Medieval 2: Total War will be able to render 10,000 troops at a time, giving new scale to the Western-style conflicts.

"Medieval 2: Total War is the result of seven years continuous development of the Total War series and has been designed to appeal to all gamers, not just hardcore strategy fans," said Mike Simpson, Studio Director at Creative Assembly. "Each game in the series has outshone the previous one and Medieval 2: Total War is no exception."

Medieval 2: Total War will release on PC in "Winter 2006."
