With Acclaim's Turok and MLBPA licenses gone, that light at the end of the tunnel is probably a train...

It was recently revealed that Acclaim lost two more major licenses due to unpaid royalties (something Acclaim contests). One was the recognizable Turok brand, which is owned by Classic Media. While the games in the Turok series generally receive luke warm ratings from the gaming media, the series was one of Acclaim's most recognizable and best selling (though there hasn't been a game in the series since Turok: Evolution two years ago). The second, and perhaps more significant to Acclaim's current situation, is the MLBPA license. Without the MLBPA license, Acclaim will not be able to use player names and likenesses in their All-Star Baseball franchise, one of their more successful games.
2004 has been a rough year for Acclaim. The company gave up the successful Burnout series to EA earlier this year. More recently, the company posted a full year net loss of $56.4 million, and warned it's investors of a possible bankruptcy, causing Acclaim's stock to plummet. Acclaim is fighting to retrieve the MLBPA and Turok licenses, though their recent financial plight may make doing so difficult.
