According to a post on his personal message forum, controversial developer John Romero is the co-founder of a new development studio. He and Midway parted ways in July 2005 during the development of Gaunlet: Seven Sorrows. While the post (which was primarily a defense of his tenure at Ion Storm and Daikatana) did not state what the new project was, Romero believes people will be "a bit shocked" when they hear about it. He also said that he'll have "complete control over this one."

"For the record, I'm co-founder of a new game company in the Bay area and am much better off in many ways than I was at Midway," said Romero. "Much happier now."
