Time Crisis -- with a new GunCon peripheral -- takes aim at the PS3.

Time Crisis 4 made a huge impact on the arcade gaming scene, enthralling players with its intense shooting action. Namco Bandai has a port in the works for the PlayStation 3 that features the original game, along with several extra modes. To top it off, it also created a new GunCon 3 peripheral specifically for the game, one much more advanced than the previous GunCon for PlayStation 2.
In Time Crisis 4, players lead VSSE agents through a dangerous mission as they battle against a militant terrorist group, causing havoc with infected insects known as "Terror Bites." As the game progresses, these agents shoot down a number of armed-to-the-teeth soldiers, along with hundreds of the "Terror Bites." Wild Dog, an adversary that has appeared in Time Crisis games, makes a return as well. (He just never seems to die, does he?)
Namco''s GunCon 3 device retains the same bright orange casing as the previous GunCon 2 (lucky Japanese gamers get a suave black one), but feels totally different. Players actually hold this device with both hands, wrapping their right hand around the handle of the gun and the left on a side-mounted stationary grip. They still duck and cover like in previous Time Crisis games, this time by tilting the gun''s analog stick.
During the multi-stage segments, players sway the GunCon to the left and right to change perspective, shooting at enemies from all directions. Weapons can be switched during reloading and non-interactive parts of the game simply by shooting off-screen and selecting between handgun, machine gun, shotgun and missiles. Aside from the handgun, each weapon has a limited supply of ammo, easily replenished by shooting yellow-suited soldiers.
The original arcade game has been included, complete with a variety of stages and foes to shoot down. However, Namco Bandai opted to throw in a few extras. Several minigames will test players'' skills and help them improve their performance. In addition, the game features a multiplayer split-screen mode, allowing two gamers to work together. ''Finally, an all-new First Person Mode gives players complete control over movement, jumping and crouching – a huge change to the routine "on-rails" action.
Thus far, the game looks amazing, and we''ll report back as soon as Namco Bandai unveils a more advanced build.
