Last week we covered Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 on the Xbox 360. A trend with Electronic Arts has been to start over every of one of its sports franchises on the Xbox 360. Last year the company was flamed for the missing features that nearly all of its Xbox 360 titles lacked in comparison to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions. Tiger Woods was one of the titles lacking content, featuring a mere six courses in the Xbox 360 version.

This year, Tiger Woods on the Xbox and Xbox 360 will feature different content altogether. Instead of the Xbox 360 version lacking features, the two games are heading in completely different directions. The Xbox 360 version will feature six new courses and some modifications to Xbox Live play, as well as deeper ESPN integration. However, the Xbox version is geared toward team play.

The Xbox version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 will feature 21 courses (including 7 new courses) and 53 golfers (including 21 professional golfers). One of new the additions in recent years has been a change to the putting system. Tiger Woods 07 will give players the option of using the new putting system or the old system that classic fans have come to love.

Aside from the numbers, the biggest difference between the next generation and current generation versions PGA Tour 07 is the team play style that the current gen versions will employ. The game features a team tour that will have Tiger searching the globe for new talent to add to his team. You'll need to recruit your team by beating a prospective player on the green. There can be up to four players on your team, as you progress through the game.

When creating your custom golfer, some adjustments have been made to improve the interface. The thumb stick will now allow you to make adjustments to the face of your created character. This replaces the sliders of the past and should allow players to create a new character much faster and with greater easy. You'll also be able to create your own custom uniform that your team will wear, including the ability to make a custom logo design.

One Ball mode is another new addition to the game. Multiple players will use a single ball, alternating shots as your drive down the green. You'll be required to hit the ball at least half the distance of the player before you if you want to continue. Speed play has also been introduced that will allow players to skip all of the animations and cut scenes between shots to make the game play much faster than before. Of course you can still watch everything if you like, but four player games of Tiger Woods tend to take quite a bit of time, so this new feature should solve that issue.

Another minor complaint with previous versions of Tiger Woods was the overall difficulty level. This year you can change the difficult level of each club individually to make things easier or harder for you. There's an overall difficulty index that will help you compare your difficulty level with others. So if you've got your putting at the easiest level, while all of your other clubs are at the hardest level, your index may be 90 out of 100. However, if you've got every club at the lowest difficulty and your putter at the highest, your overall index may be 60 out of 100.

This year things are looking very different for the current generation and next generation Tiger Woods titles. Fans of the series may even want to look into getting both versions for the complete experience. While the next generation versions are likely to have more ESPN integration, the Xbox version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 will feature the ESPN ticker, streaming ESPN Radio and ESPN news updates every 15 minutes. We'll have more on the current generation versions of Tiger Woods as we approach its release later this year.
