Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 hits the PlayStation 3 greens with 15 of the world's greatest golfers competing on 12 of the world's greatest licensed PGA Tour courses. Golf pros like John Daly, Annika Sorenstam, and, yes, Tiger Woods are available for a round or a full season

Two career modes act as the centerpiece in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07. One is the PGA Tour season, which takes golfers through the regular season of sixteen PGA Tour events. Golfers accumulate points in hopes of being one of the top thirty players in the world, thus securing a spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs. This career mode is the more detailed of the two, and should be a lot of fun for those familiar with the regular PGA Tour season.

Tiger Challenge, the other career mode, is where golfers compete on a number of worldwide courses for a chance to earn money and skill. Money earned at events is used to purchase items at the Pro Shop, and the skill is something that needs to be accumulated through experience if there's any hope of facing the man himself, Tiger Woods.

Golf is exactly known for fiery characters, so EA took the opportunity to showcase some personality in Tiger Challenge with its own custom players. One of them is John Dinkenbach, straight out of a bad eighties-movie playing the snobby rich kid with his snide remarks. Another favorite is Pop Johnson, easily pushing 100 years old, but still as talented on the course as any of those pesky young-ins.

For those not interested in pro golfers, Game Face mode allows players to create their own characters where everything from hair color down to accentuation of a nose dimple is customizable. One can easily spend an hour or more creating just the right character for a championship run.

Being the best means training hard and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 offers ten mini-games to help improve the nine key golf skills that are measured by the game. A rookie golfer may start with 10% of the ability that can be achieved, but these training modes help push that number higher. Need more power? Then the long drive challenge is just the ticket. What about putting? Hit the green and make those putts for an added advantage with those tricky shots. These modes help boost the skill meter, but also acts as good practice for when it's time to hit up another challenge.

Gameplay retains its simplicity, and newcomers to the series will find it very easy to pick up and play. Move the left stick down and watch the player start their backswing. Depending on how much power should be given, the left stick should then move up in a fluid motion to make contact with the ball. If an angle is needed, then a diagonal motion should be applied instead of straight up and down, but that is part of the nuance of mastering Tiger Woods.
