In case you haven't heard, The Sims 3 is a big deal. Electronic Arts plans to roll out the highly anticipated sequel this June, and as expected, it comes with a plethora of improvements. We recently checked out the game to see if it's a rehash or something imaginative.

One of the game's best features is the ability to design your own patterns and apply them to anything. Want plaid pants? You got it. Need a floral couch and a wallpaper to match? It's possible. You can even go in depth with a character's hair by coloring not only the tips but also the roots. And with tons of sliders for everything, including height, skin tone and weight, there are endless possibilities.

There are over 60 characteristics, of which, you may select five per character. These include a hatred for the outdoors, friendly, shy, couch potato and even kleptomaniac. What you choose ultimately shapes your created character's lifetime goal. For example, it's possible to be an evil genius that loves pets.

While that stuff sounds cool, we also love the seamless transitions from indoor to outdoor environments and vice versa. No longer will you suffer through a loading sequence. Instead, EA streams all of the content off the disc.

Gamers will also dig more user-friendly controls and tons of smaller goals that allow them to play for several hours or 30 minutes at a time. At least that way you can get your Sims fix before heading back to work.

Although we wanted to go more in depth, these small nuggets of info were enough to hook us on The Sims 3. EA has taken some steps to make the game unique, and we can't wait to create characters and watch them interact with other Sims.
