At a New York City analyst briefing today, Nintendo gave us an overview of what's to come in 2004. For the GBA, Nintendo plans to ship the Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter, which allows players to compete head-to-head without the use of cords, as part of the Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Leaf Green package in September. The Pokemon/Wireless Adapater combo has already sold 2 million copies in Japan since it launched at the end of January. Mario Golf: Advance Tour, which is set for release on June 28th, will also take advantage of the Wireless Adapter.

Also coming out in June is the new Game Boy Advance Video. These are new video paks which allow two cartoon episodes to be played on the GBA. Companies such as Majesco have already started to take advantage of the technology.

June seems to be a hot month for the GBA, as that's also when the Classic NES Series comes out. On June 7th, you can get your hands on eight retro games from the 1980s (each retails for $19.99). The Japanese bought more than 900,000 of these classic games in four weeks.

Other upcoming GBA titles to look forward to include: Mario vs. Donkey Kong on May 24; Hamtaro 4 in July; F-Zero 2 in September; and Mario Pinball, Donkey Kong Country 2, Mario Tennis, a new Kirby game and a handheld Mario Party title in the fourth quarter.

For the GameCube, Nintendo has the following planned: WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$ on April 5; Custom Robo on May 10; The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures on June 7; Pikmin 2 in August; Donkey Konga in September; and Paper Mario 2, Geist, Metroid Prime 2, Star Fox 2, Mario Tennis and Mario Party 6 in the fourth quarter. Nintendo has also confirmed the upcoming release of the higher-capacity 1019 Memory Card.

There's nothing unusually surprising on that list, although we do see that Donkey Konga and Paper Mario 2 are confirmed for the US and that yet another Mario Party game is in the works. It appears that the Namco developed Star Fox game will make it out this year also. Interestingly, Wind Waker 2 is not mentioned, but most people still believe that it will be out on time for a holiday 2004 release. That and probably several surprises will be on hand at the upcoming E3 this May.
