Gun games make boys happy (yes, and some girls) but those weak excuses for turning the Wii Remote into a pistol, shotgun or rifle make us avoid many gun controllers like the Swine Flu. Well, that was until the new Komodo Buckshot Pump-Action Shotgun for Nintendo Wii controller showed up in our mailbox this morning. First, the weight without the Wii Remote inside is nicely balanced and deceptively inside the Wii Remote chamber, there's a Nunchuck plug. Upon closer inspection, that plug leads to a Nunchuk analog controller and C and Z buttons that are within thumb range (nice touch).
Complete with a pump slide that makes the rig feel more like a combat shotgun, it attracted every guy in my cube farm (even though it shines like a dark version of a ruby red slipper although a black colored version is available). With rubber grips on the handle and the pump, it's not fully ergonomic but it does feel worthy of action in compatible games like Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty: World at War, Links Crossbow Training, House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, House of the Dead Overkill, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and other first-person shooter games.
We'll report back tomorrow to tell you if it's worth your $34.99 (that is, unless one of the guys doesn't pistol whip me for it first).
