Media Create passed along its weekly list of the top 10 selling console software titles in Japan.

Here is the company's full report, covering the week of August 22 - August 28, 2005:

Ranking—Title—Platform—Publisher

  1. Tales of Legendia—PS2—Namco
  2. Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny: Generation of C.E.—PS2—Bandai
  3. Naruto: Uzumaki Ninden—PS2—Bandai
  4. DS Training For Adults: Work Your Brain—DS—Nintendo
  5. World Soccer Winning Eleven 9 —PS2—Konami
  6. Winning Post 7 (incl. Limited Edition)—PS2—Koei
  7. Gentle Brain Exercises—DS—Nintendo
  8. Jump Super Stars—DS—Nintendo
  9. The King of Beetle Mushiking: Greatest Champion—GBA—Sega
  10. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow—DS—Konami

According to Media Create, sales of the top 100 titles totaled 886,454 units, 113.49% of the weekly average. Sixteen new releases ranked in the top 100, accounting for 54.49% of sales. New titles, including top-ranked Tales of Legendia and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny: Generation of C.E., drove the market to 116.83% of last week's figure.

Tales of Legendia, in first place, sold 242,000 units. This figure was
just short of the approximately 265,000 units in first week sales marked by
Tales of Symphonia, on PS2, which released in September 2004. Although this may seem to be an unsatisfactory performance for an installment in the Tales of series, the game performed well compared to the competition, and still nearly sold a quarter million copies. Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny: Generation of C.E. delivered a strong performance with sales of approximately 118,000 units. However, sales of other new titles were low, and only Tales of Legendia and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny: Generation of C.E. made good showings.
