Frogster Interactive Pictures today revealed details regarding its sub-license sale of The Chronicles of Spellborn. Partnering with Excite Japan, the company is looking to make their game a large property in Asia.
Excite will pay an advance license of $1.2 million for the exclusive MMO marketing rights in Japan, with guarantee for a percentage of running gross profit and an additional bonus on all revenues exceeding roughly $20 million.
Excite hopes to bring in roughly 100,000 The Chronicles of Spellborn players in Japan for a monthly revenue of roughly $1.5 million. This would bring Frogster Studios an estimated $4 to $5 million on a yearly basis.
The company said the license deal "is one of the largest closings for a single product for the territory of Japan in the history of PC games." Frogster Studios also owns the license for China, Korea and other Asian countries.
