Queens, NY, Citi Field -- Prince Fielder may be the new cover player of 2K Sports' The Bigs 2 due out in July, but current MLB 2K09 cover player Jose Reyes recently showed off his home run gaming skills in a preview of The Bigs 2 out at the NY Mets brand new ballpark, CitiField. Invited media squared off against the real, live shortstop of the NY Mets, as well as meet and catch up with Milwaukee Brewers first baseman and The Bigs 2 cover boy Prince Fielder.

Fielder, at 5' 11" with a plump, but stocky 270-pound frame, is a strong baseball bruiser with a knack for crushing towering home runs. When asked about what it was like to be a part of the motion-capturing experience for The Bigs 2, Fielder jollily joked, "I liked wearing those tight-fitting clothes... Nah. I'm just kidding."

Fielder is the perfect cover boy for a larger than life game where power, speed and strength are always on display.

New features of The Bigs 2 game include the "Become a Legend" mode that bridges The Bigs with the upcoming version by expanding the difficulty of moving from a rookie to making it to the big leagues. Starting your career in the Mexican league and moving to the majors as a rookie is no easy feat.

Other expanded features include a season mode, which 2K says was something fans were asked for. Other features include using legendary power moves, and a hot-zone area dubbed the 'batter's wheelhouse' that pitchers will want to avoid with frequency. If you get too close to the wheelhouse, you might be going to bullpen early.

Along with mini games designed to improve both offensive and defensive skills, The Bigs 2 looks to deepen the total experience of moving from a rookie through the minor leagues and all the way to the Hall of Fame.

One of most fun areas of the game has to be Homerun Pinball, which uses attributes from three famous city streets including New York's Times Square, the Las Vegas Strip and downtown Tokyo as a backdrop for a home run derby type competition. In either single or co-op mode, whacking the ball off colorful, neon cityscapes, breaking windows and shattering taxicabs delivers destructive fun.

While at Citi Field, a few members of the media got a chance to play Homerun Pinball against one of the best players in baseball, Jose Reyes. Reyes, won one and lost one, both as himself in the game. He beat the game version of David Ortiz, but ironically lost to game version of Prince Fielder. 2K may be on to something.

We even got a chance to watch Jose Reyes play Homerun Pinball at the 2K Sports pavilion at Citi Field. The event also served as a great way to introduce gamers to the new 2K Sports Pavilion, an open-air gaming zone behind center field that invites fans to try out 2K games.
