Most video game commercials are full of computer-generated fluff that doesn't give consumers a great look at the action. Every now and then, however, we get a wonderful ad that not only sells the game, but also provides plenty of laughs and thrills. Check out some of our favorites from around the web.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Sony's done a wonderful job advertising the PlayStation 3. Case in point, the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves commercial. A supposed "good boyfriend" talks about how his girlfriend doesn't know that Uncharted 2's actually a video game; she thinks it's a movie. Then this smoking hot babe walks into the room carrying a bowl of popcorn. If only more guys had this problem.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Every time Activision releases a new commercial for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it just makes us more excited to play it. This latest one not only fleshes out the story a little more, but also shows more amazing in-game footage that includes a nice little shocker at the end, a torn apart Washington D.C., with you right in the middle. November 10th needs to get here faster.

The Beatles: Rock Band

Although it only lasts 31 seconds, The Beatles: Rock Band ad is an instant classic. Its creators cleverly blended the Fab Four with modern-day gamers, while "Come Together" plays in the background. It really gives you an idea of what the game's about, which introduces the band's classic rock catalog to a whole new audience. In addition, there's no Yoko to break up the commercial.

Halo 3: ODST

Considering that this is the second Halo game without Master Chief, Microsoft had to take a different route for its Halo 3: ODST commercial. So, it pulled out all the stops and told the tale of an ODST soldier, from his first day in training to his fateful drop into the Covenant-controlled sector of Earth. The production values are excellent, and really pump you up for the game, even if it doesn't have good ol' M.C. at the helm.

Brutal Legend

Jack Black brings the funny in this Brutal Legend commercial, where the Hollywood star not only describes the game, but also wields a huge axe. Seriously though, Jack. You should have shaved.

Guitar Hero 5

Sure, we know that Guitar Hero 5 has over 80 songs, but Activision needed to create a commercial us guys could relate to. Thus, we have this ad inspired by the film, Risky Business, except instead of Tom Cruise sliding across the floor, we have a bunch of sexy Playboy playmates. Yes, Mr. Hefner, we like variety too.

Gears of War - Mad World

Microsoft could've taken the easy way out with its Gears of War TV ad, filling it with action and blaring some hard rock tune in the background. Instead, it created this poignant, haunting commercial that combines the fury of the Gears of War universe with the quiet, chilling "Mad World" by Gary Jules. The shocking ending is unbelievable, as hero Marcus Fenix crashes into a building, only to discover that he's about to get ambushed.
