The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius: Attack of the Twonkies for the Game Boy Advance is a game about everyone's favorite genius, Jimmy Neutron. In this game, Jimmy has discovered that the comet Twonkus-3 is scheduled to make its annual cosmic visit, and he is determined to explore the comet and see what it has to offer. The game begins with Jimmy running around his house, collecting Neutronium, which is a sparkling green substance that will somehow help Jimmy reach the comet, and various items that will help him create yet another invention. At the end of the board, Jimmy finds his entire set of past inventions, and this gives the player a whole bunch of helpful items to use when Jimmy's normal jumping and sliding aren't enough. As the game progresses, unfortunate events ensue, and soon the entire town in under attack by alien beings known as Twonkies. It is up to Jimmy and his many inventions to save the town and get things back to normal!
Attack of the Twonkies is a surprisingly complex game, as there is a lot to do and many neat inventions to use. The controls are pretty easy, and Jimmy moves kind of slowly, so once you become familiar with all of his inventions, the game plays pretty well. There is always something to do, and the game certainly keeps you busy, so gamers looking for a game they can get lost in should check this out. It was a little tricky to fly Jimmy through space and dodge the huge meteors that hurled toward him, but a little practice helped a great deal.
The game is animated well, and Jimmy looks a lot like he does on the television. The game has some boards that are 3D and some boards that are 2D, so there is a broad range of environments in which to play. The music is nice and fits with each board appropriately.
