Namco today announced a few more details on the bonus mode to be featured in the upcoming Tekken 5 exclusively for the PlayStation 2. In a similar fashion to Tekken Force mode from previous Tekken titles, the bonus mode in Tekken 5 will allow players to take down a large number of enemies coming at them in massive numbers. In addition, players will be able to move freely throughout the levels featured in the new bonus mode, and will have the ability to break walls and columns, double jump to obtain out-of-reach items, and jump up to a second floor to continue the action.

As the new mode progresses, players will have to use a certain amount of strategy in order to complete the bonus mode. Tekken Force in past Tekken titles has always been fairly easy, so it's safe to assume the new bonus mode will expand on that by adding a strategic element not found in the previous games.

As another slight twist on the Tekken Force formula, it seems as though this time around players will not be able to use all of the selectable characters. Instead, the bonus mode in Tekken 5 will only follow the storyline of Jin Kazama. While very little information is known on what information players will discover, the screenshots seem to indicate that Devil Jin will have a presence in some form.

Accompanying the announcement of the new bonus mode, Namco reconfirmed that Tekken 5 will ship in Q1 2005 (between January and March) exclusively for the PlayStation 2. We'll have more information on the arcade and console versions of Tekken 5 in the near future.
