When Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain came out on the PlayStation 2 three years ago, many fans were expecting to be blown away with its online component and intense action. Unfortunately, the game fell short. To make up for it, Sony made the wise decision of bringing the hit PSP game Syphon Filter: Dark Mirrorto the console. It mostly survived the transition, keeping most of its enjoyable presentation and action intact. However, the lack of a key component makes the PSP version the one to buy.

In the game, Gabe Logan goes on a terrorist-blasting spree, receiving assistance from his talented partner Lian Xang. Over the course of each mission, pieces of Logan's past come up, revealing information that makes him question certain things, including his own partner.

The game, for the most part, survived the port-over process. Although the graphics suffer from a jittery frame rate, the details look good throughout. Enemy soldiers move convincingly and smartly stay behind cover, the third-person perspective that Gabe employs allows players to use cover effectively while shooting back at terrorists and the level design never loses its edge. The audio remains in place as well, with excellent voice acting, an upbeat music score and an abundance of quality sound effects, particularly with various types of gunfire.
