Emergent Game Technologies today announced that BioWare has become their latest customer. The Canadian developer is purchasing Emergent's Metrics Element, a new web-based solution that allows for collecting, analyzing and sharing game data. BioWare will also enter Emergent's Element Partners initiative, which gives Emergent insight into BioWare's products as it applies to metrics.

"This agreement comes at a critical moment for the game development industry," said Geoffrey Selzer, CEO of Emergent. "Cutting-edge developers like BioWare recognize the need for scalable production processes as games grow to accommodate heightened demands for engaging content and technology. We are extremely pleased to have one of the most innovative and successful game developers in the industry choose the Metrics Element to meet this challenge--this marks a milestone not just for our company, but for the entire game development industry."

"Metrics arms us with the sophisticated data gathering and analysis tools we always knew we needed," said Gordon Walton, co-Studio Director of BioWare's Austin, Texas studio. "Emergent has created a set of easy-to-use tools enabling us to access and share any type of information that can be measured in a game - whether we are analyzing performance or player behavior - and they fit seamlessly within our existing pipeline."

"We are looking forward to putting Metrics to work immediately," said Trent Oster, BioWare's Director of Technology. "We are confident that the insight gained from Metrics enables us to make better games in less time. Metrics will be core in our future efforts to define the leading edge of the game development process."
