The GameDaily One-Minute Review

Super Paper Mario looks a lot more exciting than it actually is. Nintendo fans will revel in the 2-D-meets-3-D world of Mario and company, and the recent drought of good Wii games makes this a welcome addition to any library. Yet, Nintendo drowns players in boring dialogue, and the ability to switch the 2-D world to 3-D makes the game too easy. It still provides some enjoyment, but nothing that'll last for more than a week.

doggy06: Super Paper Mario, good or bad? Fun or Boring? Intelligent or Dumb?

I personally enjoyed super paper Mario for the wii, but there were a few faults. The storyline itself is rather complex for a video game and more the type of thing you would find in a movie, probably at a PG rating...The humor was actually pretty good, but at some points you do wish you COULD JUST PLAY, but if you have lots of time to read AND play then you shouldn't be bothered. So out of 10 for being fun I'd give it a 7 or 8. The Game seems to be good, especially when looking at the commercials. There are several mazes which can be a bit tiresome and boring, but make sense. Most puzzles are solved with some thought or just pixils and flipping into the 3-D mode. Also several items can be found using the flipping which gets a bit predictable. But in being a Good game... i guess i would give it an 8 or 9 out of 10. The writing is definitely intelligent, but the way to have the story drags on can be a bit dumb. The puzzles usually need thought and this is very good for an RPG. Some things can be difficult and based on luck such as in the WOAH zone in the space chapter. For an intelligence rating I would give it a 7 or 8 again. Compared to other paper mario games i personally liked this one. In the others it can get ridiculous and the puzzles were very boring. the game does not have the same turn-based battles and instead uses direct battles with jumping being the main attack. I find this style more appealing and less boring than the other games. Similar to the other games you have partners that follow you, in this edition its pixels. Pixels are fairy like creatures that give certain powers and usually there is one given each chapter or more. Overall I would give this game an 8 out of 10. PLOT: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS BEWARE The main screen before any buttons are pressed, is bowser and peach getting married. The apparent reverend is named Count Blech and is the main antagonist throughout the story. Through performing this ceremony the Count says that a chaos heart will be unleashed. During this time we see Luigi in the crowd. When the chaos heart is unleashed the ground shakes and the start screen comes up. We find out none of this was Bowser's plan and Count Blech sucks in all characters except for Mario. We then find a pixel named Tippy who looks like a rainbow butterfly. We then try to find the pure hearts so we can stop the ever growing void started by the chaos heart (Sounded like sonic to me). There are 8 chapters to go through in all, i think, and through each is fun but difficult puzzles. The replay fun isnt that good, but i would like to see someone post the story like a book online (it was very special and amazing for me). Please check out this game, it rules!

mkzsonic: Super Paper Mario: Ish Good

Another Mario adventure? Ugh. Let's get this over with. The story is that Bowser kidnapped Peach and you gotta save her blah blah blah. Wait, what? That's NOT the story? Well, as it turns out, in this game it's more like saving the world. How so? Well, there's this huge black hole kinda thing that keeps getting larger, and it's your job to stop it. How? Well, you gotta collect these things called the "Pure Hearts" and place them in these pillars. Why? I don't know. The guy in the game said to. Ofcourse, this won't be an easy task. So how do we do this? We use the combined abilities of Mario, Peach, Luigi, Bowser, and things called "Pixls" which give you different abilities. Example, the hammer Pixl works like a hammer. One Pixl you can use as a hovering platform to go over obstacles, or you're just too lazy to walk. Each character has there own unique abilities. For example, Peach can use her parasol to float from one platform to another, as illutrated on the box art. Mario's ability will be an important one. You can flip the world into 3-D. You'll need this to pass obstacles, solve puzzles, and you'll see things you couldn't see in 2-D. But ofcourse, your time to do so is limitied. You'll have a guage of squares at the top left and they will drain. Once they have drained completley, you will lose health points. However, it will constantly annoy you having to change your character and your Pixl, but that's ok because it doesn't take too long to do so. Fun and innovative gameplay accompanied by a hilarious scripting, pick up Super Paper Mario on your next trip to GameStop.

benyaminejohn: Pains me to say

I'm really surprised but I sorta couldn't get into this game. Lots of text, which is cool because it's an RPG, but it's really is a boring story. Even the 3D stuff wasn't done that great IMO. Anyway, it's a very pretty game, just not that fun.
