Publisher LucasArts sent word today that its Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice," has already sold over 1.5 million units worldwide in less than a week and the game is on pace to become the best-selling Star Wars game of all time. LucasArts said the title is already the fastest selling game from the publisher in its history. The 1.5 million copies sold was based on five days of retail sales across all platforms the game released on worldwide.

"The record-setting sales of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed shows the undiminished power of Star Wars and its popularity across all media types, including video games," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. "We're blown away by the response to the game."

LucasArts initially shipped 4.3 million copies of the game around the world and the publisher said that "unprecedented demand has led to the manufacture and distribution of additional copies."
