For the second year now, the Writers Guild of America is honoring the best writing in a video game as part of its 2009 Writers Guild Awards. The recently concluded awards gave the nod to LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (last year Dead Head Fred took home the award).

Writers Haden Blackman, Shawn Pitman, John Stafford and Cameron Suey were bestowed the award on February 7. Force Unleashed was up against Fallout 3, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Tomb Raider: Underworld and Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble.

Reviews for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed were somewhat mixed, but sales were quite good, as the game quickly sold through 1.5 million units worldwide in its first week – making it the fastest selling Star Wars game ever.
