The PhoneSaber app was simple -- open the app, pick a lightsaber color then wave your phone around as the hum of your Jedi weapon shows your friends that the Force is with you.
Fans were disappointed when PhoneSaber was pulled from the Apple store in early August. THQ Wireless, which owns the rights to all things Star Wars on mobile, asked indie developer The Mac Box to pull its creation from the store, with promises to release an official version later this year.
That time is apparently now-ish, as THQ wireless confirmed that a retooled PhoneSaber Unleashed will release around the time the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game hits on September 15.
While there's no word on what changes might appears in the lightsaber app, it's almost guaranteed to include George Lucas-sanctioned sound effects and music ... and yet another way to get a quick Star Wars fix.
