Some lucky folks will be entering the final frontier beginning today, at least in a fictional form. Atari sent over word that the closed beta test for Star Trek Online is scheduled to begin sometime today. If you signed up to participate you may be one of the first folks to take a captain's chair and go where no one has gone before (well, except for all of those Trek characters that preceded you but you get the point.You can still sign up for the beta at the game's official web site. Rep at the game's developer Cryptic Studios have said Star Trek Online is currently due to launch sometime in the first quarter of 2010.[Via email press release]
