Bethesda Softworks took the lead today in the holiday wars by announcing that its Star Trek: Conquest game for Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2 will release as early as tomorrow.

Based on the action from the Star Wars: The Next Generation era, players take control of either Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Dominion or Breen forces in a quest to control the galaxy.

Using the Wii Remote, Nintendo Wii owners build and maintain their empires in the turn-based strategy game by creating support structures, researching new technology and engaging in combat with other factions.

Once players get into combat situations, the game leap into real-time tactical mode. Wii users make use of the Nunchuk to maneuver their ships and fire weapons with the Wii Remote.

Rated E for Everyone, Star Trek: Conquest sells for $29.99 for Wii and $14.99 on PS2.
