While Spore's basic game mechanics were to create and conquer, the upcoming expansion pack, Spore Galactic Adventures plans to add missions to save planets from alien invasions, sparring with gigantic monsters, using new and more powerful weapons, protecting an oracle, killing a dictator and more.

Players will also be able to create their own adventures. Given the creative leanings of the Spore community, those new adventures should prove extremely interesting. A new video, released by the game's developer, Maxis, showcases several missions in a well produced video that sounds like a 1950's style space movie trailer.

The Spore Galactic Adventures expansion arrives for PC owners of Spore on June 23.
