The team behind Spore wanted to wish players a Happy Darwin Day today as it celebrates the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birthday. The world's first evolutionary biologist created a rift in the world by examining how different species physically change over the course of time to suit their environment and shook the views of the day by establishing the relationships between species.

Without such revolutionary thinking, Spore, a game that lets players create and evolve life, would have never been created. Spore takes concepts from Darwin's On the Origin of Species and other works that let players create some of the craziest creatures ever. With 35 million creatures already created for Spore.com's Sporepedia, players have already exceeded planet Earth's 1,589,361 known species.

To celebrate, the Spore team has created collections of fan-inspired works that celebrate the esteemed scientist's contributions with the Darwinian Sporecasts. Oddly, while several people have attempted to create Spore creatures that resemble Mr. Darwin, we didn't see a single finch.
