Shocking three different realms of the entertainment sphere at once, the Associated Press says that The Walt Disney Company will acquire Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for a cash and stock swap that adds up to $4 billion. Of course, there are multiple approvals from Marvel shareholders and anti-trust officials, which could hold up the deal.

If passed, that means that Super-Man, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Captain America and the other 5,000 characters in the Marvel library will soon be part of the House of Mouse.

With the recent box office successes of several Marvel-based movies, film studios have been tossing absurd money to secure film rights and top actors. Of course, this means that rights for creating movies and their respective video game are now at the hand of one company, a company that has slowly been building itself in the video game realm. The result of such of a merger is bound to set off shockwaves in the entertainment industry.
