SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars made a name for itself by combining hack-n-slash style role-playing games with real-time strategy elements. A year after the game's initial release comes its first expansion, named SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm.

Dragon Storm continues the story in the land of Eo, a collection of islands connected by magical portals. These portals teeter on the brink of collapse as they lose power and threaten to shut down. Areas reliant on other islands for resources stand to suffer the most, causing an exodus of panicked refugees to flee their homelands to more prosperous islands. The player takes on the role of a soldier who must flee his island before the portals collapse, and battle with other nations to ensure the safety of his people. In doing so, players trace the power of the magic portals back to their source and explore ancient ruins left behind by powerful beings known as Shapers. Long thought to be extinct, it appears one of them has returned, threatening all of Eo. The only hope Eo has of defeating this menace comes through convincing the long exiled Dragons to come to their aid.

Players already familiar with Shadow Wars will see how the world of Eo has changed during the course of this crisis. Similarly, many of the characters from the first game will return, so SpellForce doesn't miss a step in creating a fluid, continuous storyline. In addition to the game play that fans have grown used to, the expansion brings a load of new quests, including hero-quests unlocked by companions, offering different side stories to the experience.

The expansion also brings a revised skill tree built around a new faction named the Shaikan, offering a new game play experience to fans, along with a plethora of new weapons, armor and even the ability to summon pets. Dragon Storm also brings new competitive multiplayer maps and a "King of the Hill" mode that lets parties of heroes battle against each other. In addition, the expansion has a new arena challenge lets players battle across dozens of maps in an effort to create the ultimate weapon.

Currently scheduled for a spring 2007 release, Dragon Storm will bring new content to SpellForce veterans and newcomers..
