While discussing the future of Dragon Ball Z fighting games in an exclusive interview with Namco Bandai Chief Producer, Daisuke Uchiyama, GameDaily learned that both the Tekken and Soul Calibur teams were working on new titles in their respective series. It's been known for some time that Namco has been working on Tekken 6 for the PlayStation 3, but this is the first confirmation that a new Soul Calibur title is in the works.
Nothing is currently known about the new weapon-based fighter other than the fact that it's in production. However, with Tekken 6 skipping an arcade run and heading straight for the PlayStation 3, it's very possible that Soul Calibur IV could follow both Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur III by releasing straight to consoles. It's also very likely that the next Soul Calibur will be gracing next generation consoles. It has been rumored for some time that Soul Calibur III would see an Xbox 360 release, but it may in fact end up being Soul Calibur IV instead.
We'll have more on the next Soul Calibur game whenever Namco Bandai decided to officially unveil it.
