Namco Bandai Games announced today that the latest installment in its popular Soul Calibur fighting franchise has already shipped two million units globally. Soul Calibur IV launched on July 29 for Xbox 360 and PS3.

The game is a notable entry in the franchise as it's been built from the ground up for a "true next generation experience" and it's also the first in the series to offer online battles.

Furthermore, Namco Bandai once again went the extra step of including iconic characters that have nothing to do with the series, this time from the Star Wars universe, which could potentially help Namco Bandai draw in a larger, mass market audience for the game. The Xbox version features Jedi Master Yoda while the PS3 version offers Darth Vader. Additionally, Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice from LucasArts' upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed makes an appearance on both platforms.
