Sonic and crew hit the speedways again in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, as they get sucked into a futuristic world where they must race at ludicrous speeds. This time around, an artifact called a "Shooting Star" allows people to control gravity, but Sonic's rivals, the Babylon Rogues, want the object for themselves. So, the race is on, as the two groups compete for control. By performing tricks and earning gravity points, racers can switch up gravity, turning walls into tracks. Flipping things around opens up shortcuts across Zero Gravity's 16 different tracks, or players can work to build up points toward opening a black hole for a super speed boost.
Maintaining control while racing at top speeds can be tough, but Zero Gravity will also have multiple upgrades for the different racecrafts. Vehicles include hoverboards, motorcycles and a sci-fi hovercraft. Players can switch vehicles and perform upgrades mid-race to suit their style. Upgrading vehicles allows access to hidden shortcuts to speed past the competition, and ensures that no two racers are the same. With 40 customization options, players can plan how to navigate through waterways, a jungle or highways.
The new Sonic Riders sticks heavily with the Zero Gravity theme, with objects that float freely in space. Racers can pull off a moved called a Gravity Dive that provides tremendous speed and lets players grind on free floating objects like cars while leaving the competition in the dust.
In addition, gamers can expect a wide cast of characters to select from. Zero Gravity includes such famous faces as Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, Dr. Eggman and Blaze the Cat, among others.
Combined with the three multiplayer modes that cover Free Race, World Championship and survival, players will fire up their Nintendo Wii systems for top speed in 2008.
