Media Create passed along its weekly list of the top 10 selling console software titles in Japan.

Here is the company's full report, covering the week of September 19 - September 25, 2005:

Ranking—Title—Platform—Publisher

  1. Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop!—DS—Bandai
  2. Dynasty Warriors 5: Mosho Den (incl. Limited Edition)—PS2—Koei
  3. Famicom Mini: Super Mario Bros. (20th Anniversary version)—GBA—Nintendo
  4. Rhapsodia—PS2—Konami
  5. DS Training For Adults: Work Your Brain—DS—Nintendo
  6. Gundam Battle Tactics—PSP—Bandai
  7. World Soccer Winning Eleven 9: Ubiquitous Evolution—PSP—Konami
  8. Super Robot Wars J—GBA—Nintendo
  9. Gentle Brain Exercises—DS—Nintendo
  10. Harukanaru Toki no Nakade 3: Izayoiki (incl. Limited Edition)—PS2—Koei

According to Media Create, sales of the top 100 titles totaled 729,874 units. This is 59.19% of last week's total and 94.30% of the weekly average.

Eleven new releases took spots in the top 100. Rhapsodia in 4th place (about 42,000 units) and Gundam Battle Tactics in 6th place (about 37,000 units) posted relatively strong sales, but overall there were very few new titles. Because of this, the market was primarily composed of existing titles and new titles made up only 23.59% of sales. Three titles released last week (Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop!, Dynasty Warriors 5: Mosho Den, and Famicom Mini: Super Mario Bros. (20th Anniversary version)) continued to perform well and drove the market, capturing the top three rankings.

In the hardware market, however, the Game Boy Micro (GBM) released last week shrunk drastically from roughly 170,000 units to about 47,000 units. Although technically new hardware, the GBM is actually a new version of the GBA. It seems that the demand has slowed down relatively quickly because many users are taking a "wait and see" approach.
