Thankfully, EXA features smart artificial intelligence, allowing each member of the group to work more effectively. Some characters, Toma included, work more efficiently during up-close combat. Others, however, prefer long-range attacks, with Cyrille leading by example. Players choose from either hero, each with balance and personality. Over the course of the game, characters can power up considerably.
Throughout each battle scenario, players earn experience points. This opens a whole new door, with a variety of items and accessories to be snagged. These give the game a necessary push in the customization department, allowing players to personalize their party. New Enhancement Arts further strengthen the game play with plenty of magic attacks.
Slick, hand-drawn characters appear as if they hopped right out of an anime. The music sounds promising, with just the right tone to fit the game's adventurous theme. The dialogue needs some work, though. It sounds like some of the actors put too much emotion into their characters.
This latest chapter in the Shining Force saga should be just as enjoyable as previous entries. GameDaily will post more information leading up the game's March 20 release.
