Though its 28 games only make up a small portion of the Sega Genesis's total library, Sega Genesis Collection contains many of the system's best. Almost every genre is represented, including the classic platforming of Sonic and Ristar, the side-scrolling action of VectorMan, the beat 'em up gameplay of Altered Beast and Golden Axe, the exploration of Ecco the Dolphin, three different entries in the Phantasy Star role-playing series and even the puzzle-based Columns. Some odd exclusions and slight technical hiccups hold the compilation back, but the portability of so many quality Genesis games makes Sega Genesis Collection an essential part of any retro gamer's library.
