Square Enix officially announced today that it will be releasing Final Fantasy VII Advent Children in Japan on September 14, 2005 with a North American release coming shortly thereafter. FFVII AC is part of the "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII", which includes the PS2 title Dirge of Cerebrus and Before Crisis for mobile, and Crisis Core for the PSP.
"Following the great reception we received at the Venice Film Festival for our special edition version, I am pleased to announce the official release date of Advent Children," said director Tetsuya Nomura. "Not only can our fans follow the fate of their friends and allies after the great battle of Final Fantasy VII, they can also enjoy this new visual expression that is the result of the technological challenges that we overcame."
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children is a "true sequel" to the popular PSOne title Final Fantasy VII. FFVII AC is a feature-length CG film, not a game. It is releasing on DVD and UMD, although the date for the UMD release has not been confirmed.
