Babes and gaming seem to go hand and hand. This has been known for some time, but now it seems as though babes also go hand in hand with the Xbox 360. Dead or Alive 4, while deeper than any previous DOA title, still focuses on the female fighters and their assets. Team Ninja is already hard at work on its next Xbox 360 title, DOAX2, the sequel to Xtreme Beach Volley. But coming to the Xbox 360 much sooner than that is Konami's Rumble Roses XX.

If you're not familiar with the Rumble Roses series, it started as a fairly basic PlayStation 2 wrestling title, starring several lovely ladies in tight outfits. The Japanese version of the game greatly expanded on the gameplay, but unfortunately those changes never saw the light of day in the US. Now the series is back on the Xbox 360 with better looking females, deeper gameplay, and a ton of replay value thanks to Xbox Live support and a load of extras.

The roster of lovely ladies in Rumble Roses XX reaches a total of 20 wrestlers, plus a spot for a created character (and we hear there are a few hidden characters as well). This is a wrestling game first and foremost, so there isn't that much of a variety in how you'll play as each of the girls fights, but the attacks and submission moves performed will differ from female to female. Pressing the X button performs a basic strike, while the Y button initiates a grappling technique. Pressing A will make your character dash, and to pin your opponent press B.

Each character also has a variety of special attacks that can be used once your finishing move gauge has reached at least one bar. As you land strikes and grappling techniques your finishing move gauge will increase up to five bars. An on screen indicator will appear when you can use any one of your finishing attacks. The game features Killer Moves, Lethal Moves, Double X Moves, and Humiliation Moves. Each special attack requires a specific set of parameters to be met in order to execute.

In addition to the wrestling, players can partake in street fights. These are basically fights with no rules. If you put a wrestler into a standard fighting game such as Tekken or Dead or Alive, you'd have the general idea of how street fights work. You win by decreasing your opponent's health bar instead of pinning them or forcing them to submit. During these fights you can also attack as you're getting up off of the ground to add an additional bit of strategy to the fight.

So now that you know how the fighting works, let's move on to the reason why you will all rush out and buy Rumble Roses XX. These ladies look good, and you can customize their outfits to your liking. The ladies don't look quite as detailed as the DOA characters, but the models are certainly top notch. In the preview build we played, the animation still seemed a bit robotic at times, but everything else was spot on from the intro dances to the various special moves.

As you win fights your popularity will increase and you'll earn money that can be used to buy various items for you lady. There are quite a few items that can be purchased from the store, including props to use in the photo mode. Yes, you heard correctly, RRXX features a photo mode that allows you to choose from a number of various poses and take snap shots of your preferred wrestler. You can even share these photos via Xbox Live.

From our time with Rumbles Roses XX, the game is actually shaping up quite nicely. If you were looking to pass on this one due to the heavy emphasis on assets, you may want to think twice about that. The gameplay is light but solid, and with all of the customizable options and Xbox Live features, the replay value is certainly there. We'll have hands-on impressions of Xbox Live multiplayer coming your way next week, as well as a full review soon after.
