For a long time Guitar Hero and Rock Band players have wondered why they can't simply transfer music from the game onto their iPod or MP3 player for listening on the go. Well, it seems Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos would like Rock Band players to be able to listen to the recorded music as well.

Speaking at CES this week, Rigopulos noted that selling recorded music would seriously "change the tenor" of the relationship the MTV-owned developer has with record labels, but he remains interested in bundling Rock Band tracks with recorded music tracks nonetheless.

"People want to buy recorded music," Rigopulos stated. "I think it does make a lot of sense to find ways to offer up the game level along with a recorded version of the song as a single offering."

The company has nothing to announce just yet, but Rigopulos is "very much" interested in selling the playable music along with the recorded music for one price. Considering that Harmonix already sells all its Rock Band music through the in-game digital storefront, adding downloadable music for listening would seem like a logical step.
