While Rock Band developer Harmonix has said on multiple occasions that they would love to do something for the Wii, MTV Games and Electronic Arts weren't willing to confirm a release of the popular music game. Rock Band is currently available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2, but not offering a SKU for the Wii, which sold like gangbusters in the last year, just doesn't make good business sense.

Thankfully for Wii owners, EA and MTV Games aren't insane and they want Wii gamers' money as well. In the conference call following EA's Q3 fiscal results, EA CEO John Riccitiello confirmed that a Wii version of Rock Band is indeed in the works. Unfortunately EA did not share any other details about the game or when it might ship.

Riccitiello did, however, emphasize the importance of Rock Band in general for EA in the fourth quarter and the first half of fiscal 2009, when the game ships across Europe.
