Ten years ago, Sega released its Dreamcast to an audience hungry for 128-bits of power. We have fond memories of the system, from picking up the console on launch day (9/9/99) to playing SoulCalibur for the first time. Actually, talk to just about anyone, and they'll have their own Dreamcast moments. Perhaps it was throwing that first touchdown in NFL 2K, or running from a crazed killer whale in Sonic Adventure.

Unfortunately, Sega was unable to sustain momentum, and the Dreamcast died an honorable death. That said, the publisher helped revolutionize the video game industry whether Sony fan boys like it or not. In fact, our friends at Industry Gamers made a point to highlight the system's best (and game changing) features, such as online play, VGA graphics and plenty of exclusive games.

Here's a sample:

"While the Dreamcast games were a blast to play and were generally beautiful to look at, they also benefited from a great controller (wire stupidly coming out of the bottom aside). The Dreamcast's controller introduced a slightly different form factor and ergonomics somewhat similar to the original Xbox controller that would follow a few years later. Although this is a very subjective matter, and we know many would disagree, we actually found it to be more comfortable for long gaming sessions than Sony's DualShock."

Now those are some fighting words. Actually, just go to IndustryGamers and read the entire article. You'll love it just as much as we did.
