The Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) E3 press conference featured several new titles. Among the revelations was a teaser trailer for God of War 3, confirming that the game is both in development for PS3 and that it will be a direct continuation of the story from God of War 2. Very little else is known of the title at this time, other than the fact that it will be in full 1080p high definition.
MAG was also demonstrated for the first time. Standing for Massive Action Game, the PS3 shooter from Zipper Interactive will have online multiplayer for 256 people. Eight-man fire teams will be led by veteran players, with a character advancement tree also included. CEO Jack Tretton said this type of game "is only possible on PS3."
In the realm of PlayStation Network titles, Sony showed off Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty. This new title will be shorter and cheaper ($14.99) than previous titles in the series and will continue where Tools of Destruction left off. Other PSN games demonstrated include the unique Flower, the episodic Siren: Blood Curse and previously revealed Crash Commando and Fat Princess.
For PSP titles, Resistance: Retribution was publicly debuted. Developed by SCEA's Bend Studio, the third-person shooter is set in the Resistance universe with a unique control scheme. Also unveiled was the quiz show game Buzz! Master Quiz and the sequels LocoRoco 2 and Patapon 2.
"The PlayStation family of products is unsurpassed in 2008 with a lineup of exclusive content for all platforms developed by the best and brightest development teams in the world," said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president of product marketing for SCEA. "We are dedicated to driving the industry forward leveraging our technology and development resources to offer consumers a wide variety of innovative titles, from casual games to hardcore games."
