Shortly after Capcom promised that it would be making "Wii Fans very happy soon," Japanese gaming rag Famitsu announces that Resident Evil (aka Biohazard in Japan) will be returning to Wii with a light gun game called Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Go Nintendo reports. The game will purportedly take players back to parts of Resident Evil 2, when Raccoon City residents are turned into mouth-breathing zombies by the T-virus, courtesy of the evil Umbrella Corporation.

Capcom has not yet confirmed that the game is coming stateside, so we're filing this under rumor for now. There's also no price or release date for the game.

This game is a follow-up to 2007's Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, another on-rails shooter, which scored above average reviews from the gaming press (an average of 75/100 on Metacritic, we gave it a 7/10).
