As far as Ratchet & Clank games go, the PSP entry Size Matters has it all: Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, a villain bent on dominating the galaxy and yes, Giant Clank. This action-adventure features a number of weapons, gadgets and mini-games. With High Impact Games handling development (instead of series creator Insomniac), fans needn't worry, as the company has thus far done a great job bringing the franchise to Sony's limited hand held.
Partly due to the simplicity of the Ratchet & Clank series, but mostly due to the skill of the development team, Size Matters retains most of what makes the PS2 games so enjoyable. The tried and true control scheme, refined over the course of the four previous Ratchet games, has been carried over with only a few slight changes. With the loss of the right analog stick, the L and R buttons control camera rotation. Meanwhile, the directional pad handles strafing , and the analog nub dictates normal movement, with the option to swap them if players so choose.
Size Matters also looks quite attractive. Though not as detailed as past Ratchet & Clank entries, the actual game doesn't appear too far removed from its console brethren. The characters and their surroundings reflect the bright cartoony charm fans have grown to love; as demonstrated by attacking robots clad in Hawaiian shirts during the first beach area. Thanks to their pre-rendered nature, the frequent cut scenes retain both the animation and quality of the previous games, right down to the humor and voice work.
